Logan Chamber of Commerce in 2023-2024
In the 2023-2024 financial year, the Logan Chamber of Commerce saw a period of significant growth, engagement, and forward-thinking initiatives. Whether you’re a long-time member or considering joining, this annual report provides valuable insights into the Chamber’s impact and direction for the future.
A Thriving Business Community
With over 50 new members joining in the past 12 months, the Chamber has continued to grow as a vibrant network for businesses of all sizes. At present, 108 businesses are actively engaged, benefiting from networking events, advocacy efforts, and professional development opportunities.
Throughout the year, we hosted monthly events (excluding January and June), attracting an average of 70 attendees per session, including members, government representatives, and business leaders. Some key highlights included:
- Industry insights from Trade and Investment Queensland
- Small business support sessions with the Office of the Small Business Commissioner
- Funding and grant opportunities presented by DESBT
- Inspirational talks from Olympic champions and business innovators
Our Logan Business Distinction Awards once again celebrated the best of Logan’s business community. With 42 category winners and nine major award recipients, the event saw a record number of nominations and entries—proving just how strong and diverse our local business landscape is.
Strategic Investments and Financial Stability
Financially, 2023-2024 marked a turnaround year for the Chamber. With a net profit of $35,242.15, we successfully recovered from the previous year’s deficit. Key revenue streams included:
- $67,525.48 from sponsorships
- $59,212.86 from events
- $8,584.49 from market stall rentals
This surplus has allowed us to reinvest in digital upgrades, including a new CRM system (WAVE CRM) that makes membership management easier and a forthcoming website refresh to enhance user experience.
Projects and Challenges
While we celebrated many wins, the year also brought tough decisions.
- The Butter Factory Breakfast Markets, a beloved initiative supporting home-based businesses, was discontinued due to rising costs and volunteer commitments. While we sought alternative hosts, no agreement was secured before this report’s publication.
- The Logan Writers Festival will transition to a biannual event, returning in 2025, allowing for more focused planning and sustainability.
